Four teenagers escape from their prison-like boarding schools to take up the fight against the tyrannical government that murdered their parents fifteen years earlier. Orphelins ignorant leurs origines et élevés dans des pensionnats aux règles drastiques, Hélène et Milena tout comme Bartomoleus et Milos n'ont guère de liberté en dehors de leurs visites bi-annuelles au village des consoleuses. Informés par une lettre mystérieuse que leurs parents, opposants au pouvoir actuel, ont été éliminés, ils décident de s'enfuir. La poursuite qui débute alors ne leur laisse guère de répit mais armés de courage, ils ne renoncent pas et découvrent peu à peu de nombreux alliés désireux de les voir reprendre le combat de leurs parents.
